Day 1: Momela Gate → Miriakamba Hut

After registration at Momella Gate, begin the trek through lush rainforest. This section is rich in wildlife, including giraffes, buffaloes, monkeys, and colorful birdlife, accompanied by an armed park ranger.

The trail steadily climbs to Miriakamba Hut, located in a peaceful forest clearing. Dinner and overnight at the hut.

Day 2: Miriakamba → Gorilla Rock Hut

    • Altitude: 2,500 m → ~3,100 m

    • Distance: ~9 km

    • Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

    The trail climbs steadily through forest into open heath and moorland. Enjoy wide views and cooler air as you gain altitude. This shorter day allows your body to acclimatize naturally.

Day 3: Gorilla Rock Hut → Suddle Hut

  • Altitude: ~3,100 m → 3,550 m

A gentle ascent brings you closer to the summit zone. From Saddle Hut, enjoy dramatic views of Meru Crater and the Ash Cone. The afternoon is spent resting and preparing for the summit attempt.

Day 4: Suddle Hut → Socialist Peak → Momella Gate

  • Altitude: 3,550 m → 4,566 m → 1,500 m

Wake around midnight for the final ascent. The trail follows a steep ridge to Socialist Peak, reaching the summit at sunrise. Enjoy panoramic views across the plains and toward Kilimanjaro.

After photos and a short rest, descend back to Saddle Hut, continue down to Momella Gate, and transfer back to your hotel.
