Safari Itinerary
Start your day with breakfast in Arusha before heading to Arusha National Park, a hidden gem about 45 minutes away. Enjoy a game drive through montane forest, open areas, and the sparkling Momella Lakes. Look for colobus monkeys, giraffes, flamingos, and other birdlife. For a special experience, a guided nature walk with an armed ranger can be arranged, giving you a close view of the park and Mount Meru. After a picnic lunch and afternoon game drive, return to Arusha for dinner and overnight at Arusha Planet Lodge.
After breakfast, drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park, set below the Great Rift Valley escarpment. On arrival, enjoy a game drive through forest, open grassland, and lake-edge scenery. Look for tree-climbing lions if luck allows, elephants, flamingos, pelicans, and other wildlife and birds. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing your exploration. By evening, head to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and a restful night.
After breakfast, take the scenic drive to Ngorongoro Crater, often called the Eighth Wonder of the World. Descend into this UNESCO World Heritage Site for a full-day game drive. The crater offers chances to see lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, flamingos, and many other animals in a unique enclosed landscape. Your guide will share insights about the crater's history and ecology. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater, then ascend the crater walls in the late afternoon and return to Karatu for dinner.
After an early breakfast, journey to Lake Eyasi, a soda lake at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment about 1.5 hours from Karatu. This area offers a rich cultural and natural experience. Spend the day engaging with the Hadzabe and Datoga communities, learning about hunting, survival traditions, daily life, and blacksmithing skills. The lake area is also rewarding for birdwatchers, with flamingos, pelicans, storks, and other species. After your cultural adventure, return to Karatu for dinner and overnight at Farm of Dreams Lodge.
Begin your final day with an early breakfast before heading to Tarangire National Park for one last game drive. Known as an elephant stronghold, Tarangire offers a final chance to see elephants, giraffes, lions, baobab trees, and wide savannah scenery. Pause for a picnic lunch inside the park, taking in your last moments of Tanzania's wilderness. In the afternoon, leave the park and drive to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport for your onward flight. Optional additional accommodation can be arranged on request.
